My Biggest Inspiration

My mother will always be my biggest inspiration. She had effortless style and beauty. She never wore makeup-she never had to. She exhaled elegance, grace, style, generosity and love into everything and everyone in her path. My mother/ my best friend passed away this Christmas Eve. I hope she found my father up in Heaven...or Paris, or wherever they may be. May they rest in peace.

  1. Lulu, I was so excited to see you were writing a blog. But as I scrolled down, my heart sank as I read this post. I lost my dad at the age of three. I don't know what is harder, all the memories or none. I hope you are hanging in there, your new works are so inpirational and can't wait to implement some of your new fabrics in upcoming projects!

  2. I'm so sorry about your mother. The photo you posted is lovely. You have her smile, too. I send you my deepest condolences and a hug.

  3. Your mother was so beautiful and as I looked at your website, the first photo I saw of her, I thought initially was you. I love textiles and painting and now that I have retired from working in an art school, have jumped into having silk scarves printed...digitally, with dye
from my paintings. The images are based on mostly abstract paintings, but some are sketches and drawings from nature. The end result is really beautiful and so much fun.
I can see you love your work and it looks as if your sunny spirit comes from your mother too. I hope I have that effect on my daughter. Thank you for your designs and book and blog.

  4. I am sorry to hear about your mother. She was so lovely and you will continue to be inspired by her forever. I lost my mother when I was 8. I wrote a tribute to her on my blog this fall. I thought you might like to see it [http://bit.ly/aV4UAr]. Your mother will always be a part of you. All best. Barbara
